Yes, heavy stock removal, especially if assymetric, can allow stresses already in the material to distort the parts. This can then be compounded by heat treatment. Stress relief prior to machining can help miinimize this.

*I’m* not saying that you have an attitude. It’s the mixture of you writing “It’s an easily obtainable goal” and “Shame on you Netflix” that gives people on reddit the impression that you have a bad attitude, and that’s why they downvote you IMO. Stress can be very healthy.
In fact, not having real stress can make us more susceptible to sickenss. It is good to exercise with high-stress-intensity bursts just like the Zebra in the 'documentary'. Couple that with learning to shut down silly mental stress and we more toward optimal use of stress.

So my best suggestion for stress: Get it! But get the right kind.

Jill has nine apples. The number of apples Jill has is one fewer (than Jack has).

“Nine” and “one fewer”, in this pair of sentences, refer to exactly the same thing: a quantity, whose value is nine, one fewer than the quantity of apples Jack has. They are are interchangable:

(Jack has ten apples.) Jill has one fewer apples. The number of apples Jill has is nine.

The phrase “one fewer” is a direct substitute for the word “nine”.
