Eh, messed up the coding up there a little bit. If you’re looking for something less depressing, you might also check out Captain Awkward’s Emporium of Cutting Remarks, written for a polite pearl-wearing reader who wants to know how to tell someone off.

Like it or not, if we weren't doing that, we would be buying all of our coal from China at much higher prices. Many more people would be forced to make choices between eating food, and having the lights on. The US meanwhile would have an even larger trade deficit with China, and a larger trade deficit overall. We'd be dependent on foreign oil for our cars, and foreign coal for our electricity. Right now coal is the best we've got. The problem isn't coal, it's that the savings we're getting from not having to buy our coal from elsewhere is not being re-invested into technology that can ultimately replace both coal AND oil energy.

It is so great that more delicious cupcake places are opening! It seems that we got a surge here in San Francisco and then it ended. I wrote a post about it in our blog but cupcakeries have unfortunately since then died down. Parties That Cook will be opening in the beginning of February in Seattle and will most definitely be trying out this tasty place!
