The best things in life come free! I read this saying somewhere and it made me smile. It is true. You can indeed get a lot of things – the best of best – for free. Like earning a wonderful, four figure income from your home. Today, jobs are becoming scarce. Those that exist are extremely stressful and payment is very rarely what you can manage within. This is why the solution today for earning a good living is not a job, but entrepreneurship.

Have You Heard Of E-Entrepreneurship?

You too, can make money online for free. You will have to harness the unlimited power of the Internet for this purpose. A great way to make money online free of any charge is with writing.

Content writing – you could write short articles, press releases, advertisements, etc if you are a good wordsmith. There are a huge number of websites, which need such content and pay anything between US $1-10 per article of 400-600 words. You could write any amount you can and count your extra cash at the end of the month! It takes about 15-30 minutes to research and write an article – so you could write some 16-20 articles per day if you work full time. This would make a good pay packet for those who love writing.

Essay writing – This is writing as well, but very different from the above genre. For this, you should know how to write a scholarly essay. You should be conversant with the different styles of writing Harvard, APA, etc., you should have a good grasp on the subject you choose to write on and you should have access to the latest scholarly books and journals. These essays are usually required for undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate audience, who need assignments done for their degrees. The payment here is better, US$ 6-25 for 250 words – but then, it is slightly tougher than the earlier option.

Creative writing – A good number of sources would pay you good money for creative writing. These include leading greetings companies, magazines, ad companies, etc. pay exceptionally well for accepted quips. Once you become popular with a particular source, you can heavy a good source of income. You could write jokes, trivia, captions, and so on.

Ghost writing – You could write for someone else – this could be novels, short stories, articles, podcasts, playwrights, screenplays, etc. This can be a very lucrative and satisfying job. You can get anything from US $500 to $5000 or more with these projects.

Translations – This method would require that you know at least one more language. There are loads of translation works to be done and you could announce your availability on specific forums established for this purpose. This is again a high-paid job paying anything from US $0.05 to $1 per word – depending on the type of job and its urgency.

If you’re already a self publisher or planning to be, you can market and promote your book on a shoestring budget – thousands have done it; be careful about your promotion and marketing dollars and don’t plunge into unknown waters — test, test, and test. It’s one thing to write a book, but an entirely different thing to write one that’s saleable, viable, and marketable. In today’s publishing environment, a book’s success depends greatly on the right marketing plan.

Using press releases for marketing or promoting your book or book’s website has become increasingly popular as publishers discover the powerful benefits of using press releases. Send out at least 10 press releases to the print and broadcast media in your area every month. When picked up by wire services, a press release can easily end up generating hundreds of mentions for your book.

Your book press release should not be written as you would a sales letter or flier, it should be written for the editor and tell about your book in a factual way, no opinion or glowing remarks. Send out the same press release to the editor of your local daily newspaper every week until you are called for an interview or are written up. Mail a press release to at least 1000 print and broadcast contacts just prior to publishing your title and again and again after you publish; you can never send too many.

Don’t underestimate the value of a good press release for making book sales. Using press releases can be a very effective marketing tool if used properly.

Be your own publicist and send a press release along with a review copy of your book to publications in your book’s genre and to book review magazines. Women buy more books then men; see how you can fit your book into the women’s’ market. If your book fits a specialty market, find a store that fits the genre and offer to leave books on consignment; many publishers have sold thousands of books this way.

It’s important to publish a website that focuses on your title; you’ll be able to refer editors and customers and all interested parties to your book information with the click of a mouse. Offer to trade writing a monthly column in a trade publication in your books’ genre, in trade for display ads on the same page. Give away one of your books in a charity raffle at a local function to get more exposure for your book.

I’ve seen publishers lose a lot of money paying for expensive display ads, so beware if you do this; I don’t advise it in the beginning — get your feet wet first so you know what you’re doing. Make sure not to overlook the Internet; get yourself interviewed or profiled for sites both about writing, publishing and about the topics covered in your book. Print and online publications provide longevity to your marketing campaign in terms of having something tangible for people to reference ongoing.

Create an online contest and list it in online contest directories to drive traffic to your website. Make sure your sales letter or flier is first class; this is your formal presentation of your title to the prospective buyer. Your sales letter or flier should include an eye-grabbing headline, the benefits to the buyer, the book features, book sales information and testimonials.

I’ve not found that book signings sell many books for publishers and are often a waste of time; better to spend it elsewhere. Place free ads periodically for your book’s website on Craigs List in different categories to drive even more traffic to your website. When you get a nice write up or feature about you and/or your book, have it laminated and set it up on an easel at trade shows. Market your book to your number one market first, and then go after the secondary markets.

The success of any book marketing effort depends on a good book and just plain hard work; its been done many times before and you can do it too. Make sure to test, test, and test some more before you lay out large sums of money. With these book marketing tips you’ll be well on your way to conquering the world of self publishing and book publishing.

If you are looking for a surefire way to market your business and increase sales, look at the copy on your website, brochures, press releases, advertising and sales letters. Good copy makes you stand out from your competition, establishes your credibility and expertise, and attracts ideal customers like a magnet.

You don’t have to have Pulitzer prize aspirations to pull words together into copy that sells. You do need to focus on four essentials:

1. convey key messages in your copy
2. speak directly to your target audience
3. paint a picture using power words, and
4. ask for the sale.

Your goal is to stop your readers in their tracks and elicit a response. Here’s how:

1. Convey Key Messages

If you want busy people to read and respond to what you have to offer, think in terms of benefits, the “what’s in it for me” perspective. Understand that buying is not a rational process; it’s an emotional one. People want to be convinced they’re making a choice that will make a positive difference in their life. They want to know they are buying the perfect solution to their challenge.

Your key messages are based on benefits, but it’s very common to confuse features with benefits. Features are inherent in your product or service. Benefits are the intangibles your buyer gets from your product or service.

For instance, driver airbags are the feature while feelings of safety and security are the benefit. A massage is the feature while stress relief and relaxation is the benefit.

Depending on the type of business you own and operate, benefits may include saving time, saving money, making money, finding success or being pain free. Identify both your features and benefits before you write one single word of copy.

2. Speak Directly to Your Target Audience

Direct your message to your target audience, those who want what you have to offer, will listen to your pitch, and ultimately take action.

You’ll likely define your target audience based on gender, age, family structure (single, married, parent) and income. Your target market will have at least four common characteristics including a particular need, access to your products and services, enough money to purchase your products or services, and decision-making power.

Write a profile of one person in your target audience, even going so far as to give that person a name, age, job and family structure. Once you’ve defined a representative of your target market, you’ll be able to write directly to that person each time you compose your copy. Actually visualize that person, and direct your message to him/her. Your words will be more personal and persuasive… and more likely to get results.

3. Paint a Picture Using Power Words

Unleash vivid images and power words that inspire readers to take action. Power words are verbs, not adjectives, that make your copy enticing. Show your reader how valuable your product or service is with words like accelerate, boost, conquer, create, ensure, focus, leverage, profit, transform, unleash, winning. Paint a picture that captures their attention and include power words that inspire action.

4. Ask for the Sale

You are connecting with your target market. You are tapping into benefits and power words that speak directly to them. You have their attention. Now ask for the sale! Tell your reader exactly what you want him/her to do.

Few products or services sell themselves. You have to ask for the sale yet this is the most difficult challenge facing many entrepreneurs. In fact, both seller and buyer are nervous about the sale. Sellers are often worried about being rejected while buyers are worried about making the wrong decision.

Use your words to pull readers into your copy, establish trust and anticipate questions and concerns. Summarize your main points and end with a call to action that states exactly what you want him/her to do next.

Do you want him to call you or e-mail you for more information? Do you want her to call to schedule a free consultation? Do you want him/her to place an order now? Be clear and specific. What is the next step for the reader to take?

Your copy sells you 24/7. When you mail a brochure, hand out print materials or refer someone to your web site, your copy will act as a sales person delivering a message and influencing perceptions about your business, your brand. Make it strong. Make it accurate. Make it sell.

Now that you have established your home based business, you are ready to inform the public about your product or service. A common method to achieve this is to send a press release. Before accomplishing this, you need to be informed what a press release is and to be effective in using this method of promotion.

A press release is a statement about your business that is designed to be appealing to the public using the resources of the media. This statement is designed to answer questions submitted by the reporters who in turn will write and report on your business.

There are several methods that you should learn to be able to write an effective press release. First of all, you should have an idea to whom the release should bn sent. Thus, you need to know the editor or reporter of the particular section of that form of the media in which you want your press release to appear. Secondly, send your press release to only one person so that there will be no duplication,. Keep your press release short and informative and typically limited to one page.

When wrting the press lelease, call the media that you are sorking with and inquire about deadlines as many magazines are plannned months in advance. Seasonal releses for Christmas, etc., especially need to be planned in advance.

After writing your press release, call the editor or reporter as speaking to them in person will give you better coverage for your press release. It would be wise for you to then follow with another call to be certain that they received your release. Be certain that the editor or reporter knows how to contact you by telephone or email.

You can distribute press releases to many sources including magazines, newspapers, TV and radio, webmasters, email, fax and US mail. You might be surprised how well press releases are received by your potential cuatomers.

http://sites..google.com/site/astewart37

Why do we use this expression? How did we come to call a misdirection a “red herring”? The term for an attempt to distract attention from the main issue comes from fox hunting. After it is cured, a red herring has a stong odor, As the hounds set out on the scent of a fox, if a red herring is dragged across the trail, it will diatract the hounds and cause then to follow the scent of the red herring instead iof the fox.

I put an ad on craigslist looking to write essays, press releases, etc. Now I have a response and they want my per page rate but I don’t know how much to charge. I have a Master’s degree and a lot of experience writing research papers for school and reports at work but I’m just starting out in the freelance writing arena. Help!

Some services ask for as little as $1 per page, some I have seen as high as $5. I would never pay very much, you will want to consider keeping your rates low. This is particularly true when forming a client base. You don’t want word-of-mouth to get out that you’re overcharging.
One good rule of thumb is if you were a person making, say, $10 per hour, how much time did you spend on the job?
Some people use their rate by time rather than page.

give the name of the car, what else the manufacturer makes, how much fuel used, how many people it carries, how fast it goes, how well it Will get thru traffic, how easy it is to park, any anti-theft devices
remember, press releases are ideally written for a specific purpose. the press release you send to the car magazines will have a lot of technical stuff, the press release for the daily newspaper will be more general, and the press release to the weekly magazines will be different from either of the above. also, the press release to magazines that go to dealers and to auto mechanic shops will also be different

I have an opportunity to take a 6-week freelance gig that would require writing of newsletters, press releases, website copy and other PR needs. Can anyone tell me the range of hourly freelance rates — particularly in the Atlanta area if possible?

I just underwent a layoff, so this would be a great chance to earn some money while I continue my job search.

Thanks for your advice!
Please note that this is a contract position where I would be working on-site, on multiple projects for four to six weeks. As such, I anticipate being asked my hourly rate. It’s likely they will consider me a "temporary worker". Thanks!

It isn’t paid by the hour. It’s paid by the word. That’s if it is truly freelance work.

On the other hand, if they have you come in to their office and have you work a set number of hours a day, on assignments that they direct you on, and they’re directing and controlling the details of your work on the newsletter, website or whatever, then you should be classified as an employee and paid an hourly rate (at least minimum wage) with time and a half for overtime.
