Is it a good idea to post fiction writing on the internet?

It seems to me that a good way to get criticism on a short story or novel that you are writing is posting it on the internet. I am worried that if I post something, like a chapter for criticism, it will be stolen and used by someone else. Am I right to be worried about that? Is it common? Should I be worried? Are there any websites that are better for posting than others?

What do you think?

It depends. It is a good way to get criticism and advice, providing you get the right kind of advice. Some sites tend to attract reviewers who will do nothing but tell you ‘Oh wow, I loved it!’ and whilst it is a good ego boost, it’s not going to help you in the long run. Personally, I have more confidence in livejournal than in some of the other sites, and I would chose a community where the whole purpose is to critique fiction, such as a writers group. As for the stealing of stories, I have heard of it happening but I don’t think it is as common as people think.

The main problem will be if you decide you want to send your finished book to a publisher, after you’ve posted various chapters online. Because they have been posted in the public domain, for anyone to read, they are classed as ‘already been published’ and unfortunately, most publishers want first publication rights which they won’t be able to have.

So, as a starting point and to find out how others take your writing and how you can improve, then yes, find an online writers group, or a community which is there for giving constructive criticism. I would, however, keep your best ideas (the ones you think you can turn into a novel that you might one day like to submit to a publisher) off the internet.

Hope this helps.

Free Coaching Make Money Online With Affiliate Websites

http://bit.ly/InternetMarketingServices
Business focus, business motivation, business management and business results are all much better when you work with a highly skilled professional CFS business coach. Businesses that catch the latest trends will ride the wave for years to come.

Affiliate marketing is a great way to make a little extra money at home. In fact there are more and more households earning a substantial amount of their income from affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is the “job” of the future that’s already here TODAY. Affiliate programs, such as Amazon.com’s Associates Program , provided the first ways for early solo and small Web publishers to make a few bucks on their websites. In these programs, an online retailer will pay you, the publisher, a percentage on sales made after customers click through from your website to the retailer’s site.

Webmasters build their websites and then don’t tell anyone its there by optimizing our pages for the search engines. This is a critical oversight and SEO does matter.

Choose to be an affiliate for a product or service that you can stand behind, talk positively about, and share experiences about. You will end up writing articles and blogs about this product, and speaking frankly to others on behalf of the product. Choose one and try it for awhile. When you feel comfortable, choose another and add it to your marketing plan.

Shoryuken forums

I didn’t want to make this vid,but anyway, tell me what you guys think about SRK forums.Recently,I have noticed that there is a media section on the forums and I posted my Blanka ftw vid.And it is kinda sad to see such comments like

“Uh wow @ how PSN players are. Didn’t know that people still fall for those retarded F-tier gimmicks. ”
This guy honestly think ppl like RickyTTT,BlGGAVELLii,PIKACHUAKUMA,PhatSaqs,Vofam,Agent-Mahone,etc are noobs.Makes no sense to me.

“hmm is there a reason you didnt turn on input display?is it because we would see you use turbo for electricity? ”
I have heard this already from a few ppl who have seen my Blanka the first time because I use electricity very often, but all the players I have played since the release of SF4/SSF4 could always check the inputs and all these ppl know that I have never used turbo. It took me so long to get the electricity timing right and when to use it and it is really sad to see such comments.

“and yes we all know people fall for blanka gimmicks. and thats what they are gimmicks, not skill. ”
Tbh actually it takes a lot of skill to win with Blanka’s tricks in SSF4.

This is the topic I am talking about and that is also the reason why I rarely visit these forums.I mainly visit SF4forums because the ppl there are nice.

It is also kinda sad that someone just came into my Blanka ftw vid and thinks sth like that:
